Credits run everything in Forza Horizon 6. Cars, upgrades, houses and Auction House bids all need them, and the good stuff gets expensive fast. The good news is that there are a few methods that pay much better than just racing. Here’s what actually works for credits, ranked from hands-off to active play.
Quick picks
- Away from the game: Colossus in Rivals with Auto Drive and a credit-boosting Forza Edition car.
- Playing normally: farm Skill Points with a high multiplier car, then turn them into credit perks and Super Wheelspins.
- One-time money: Festival and Discover Japan milestones, plus smashing the regional mascots.
1. Colossus + Rivals + Auto Drive (hands-off)
This is the go-to AFK method. It needs the Colossus circuit, which opens once you reach Legend Island, and a Forza Edition car with a built-in credit bonus. The two cars people use are the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Forza Edition and the Wuling Sunshine S Forza Edition. You can’t buy either from the Autoshow, so you’ll need to get them through other rewards.
Setup:
- Pick Colossus in the event menu and choose Rivals.
- Choose the fastest Rival on the list. The event only ends when you beat their time, so if you can’t, the race keeps going.
- Turn every assist off and set Drivatar difficulty to Unbeatable until you see the +50% credit bonus.
- Start the race and turn on Auto Drive.
The longer it runs, the more you get at the end. Testers report around 140,000 credits every six minutes with the VIP bonus and one of those cars, and close to a million credits an hour in longer tests. Without VIP you get noticeably less. These are player-tested numbers, not official, so treat them as a rough guide.
2. Skill Points into credit perks and Super Wheelspins
If you’re actively playing, Skill Points are the better use of your time. Every drift, near miss and jump earns them, and you spend them in each car’s Car Mastery tree.
The key is a car with a high skill multiplier perk. The 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B-STi Version costs 86,000 credits and has a Car Mastery perk that pushes your multiplier to 9x. The Mercedes-AMG ONE you get as a bonus for playing Forza Horizon 5 goes up to 7x and has the top speed for longer skill tracks.
Player-made EventLab tracks are built for this. They line you up through objects that keep your skill chain going, and you just restart when it ends. Once you have the points, spend them on perks that pay out directly:
- Some treasure cars, barn finds and Forza Edition cars have perks that pay 150,000 or even 250,000 credits instantly.
- Many cars have Wheelspin and Super Wheelspin perks. Super Wheelspins hand out credits and cars, and duplicates can be sold.
3. Buy-and-perk cars
Some cheap cars have credit perks worth more than the car. The 1999 Dodge Viper GTS ACR is a well-known example: it costs 68,000 credits at the Autoshow and has a 150,000 credit perk for 30 Skill Points. That’s about 82,000 profit per car. Players also buy certain Mazdas just for their Wheelspin perks. Prices can change with house discounts, so check what you’d pay first.
4. Difficulty and assists
Your race payout goes up the harder you make things. Higher Drivatar difficulty adds a percentage bonus, and turning off assists adds more. Turning off ABS and switching to manual give about 15% each, and turning off traction and stability control adds about 10% each. Don’t go so hard that you lose every race, though. Pick the hardest level you can still win on.
5. Milestones and collectibles (one-time money)
The Festival Playlist and the Discover Japan challenges have milestone rewards in the top-right of each category. Earning 750 Discover Japan points alone pays 80,000 credits. Those add up quickly early on.
Each region also has mascot statues marked with purple faces on the map. Each one you smash pays 5,000 credits, and with 200 of them that’s a million credits total just for driving around.
6. Auction House and liveries
Wheelspin exclusives and rare duplicates sell well in the Auction House. Sharing liveries and tunes pays too: when other players like or download your work, you get credits.
Mistakes that cost you credits
The first is selling cars you just got from a Wheelspin straight away. Check the Auction House first, because rare spins often sell for far more than the quick-sell price. The second is spending Skill Points on every perk in a car you won’t drive again. Put them into credit and Wheelspin perks instead. The third is racing on a difficulty you can’t win at. A lost race at a big bonus pays less than a win on a slightly lower setting.
Also check houses before you buy one. Some give a discount at the Autoshow, which makes buy-and-perk cars cheaper and adds up over many purchases.
Which method should you use?
Use Colossus AFK when you’re away from the game, Skill Point farming when you’re playing, and do milestones and mascots early since they’re one-time. Stacking all three is what gets you to the expensive cars quickly.
